My Dad just received his 8x8 book today (Shipped July 3rd). He was touring England for 3 weeks, and every day sent all us kids an email and pics detailing the daily activities. I assembled them all into my first project. I choose not to use a template this time and just did it from scratch. I love the content, and obv so does he. However both he and my Mom were absolutely blown away by the quality of the book as well. My mom said "If that is from the tour company, that was worth the price of the 3 week tour itself!" Lol it was quite funny as they had no idea it was coming, and when it did they didn't know it was from me, until they saw my email on the packing slip. They are thrilled! And well, so am I.

I have to say that I'm so happy their reviews on the quality, color and general look and feel of the book are this good. It really puts my mind at ease knowing that I can ship direct to paying customers now, and trust in the publisher. I'm going to visit in Aug for my sisters wedding (which of course will also warrant a project) and will get to see the book then. Can't wait.

Thanks!

Hi Julie,

I just thought I would let you know, that I received my first HM project last week, and I was absolutely blown away. It was so beautiful. It was the flipbook that I did for my fiance with reasons why I love him on every second page with a bunch of photographs of him just being wonderful. I couldn't wait until Valentine's to gift it to him though, so on Tuesday after we had dinner I presented it to him.

He cried, I cried, we hugged, then we just hung out on the couch the rest of the night talking about things and our future plans for our family.

Recently we had been talking just to get things done but in the hectic planning of our wedding, we found sometimes we didn't make the effort to spend time together. It seemed like we had lost a little bit of the closeness we had before. We seemed like passing ships sometimes, watching tv or sports on separate floors, not really making the effort to spend time together because it was more convenient not to.

It seems as though it came right on time and I didn't want to mess with what seemed like fate. I'm glad I gifted it early. The past week has been wonderful and now we're looking forward to a nice romantic dinner tonight. I'm also certain that all I have to do to get that closeness back, is to pull out the flip book.

"Just had to tell you that there should be a warning label with HM ;) I was making Pancakes for breakfast and adding a few embellishments to a 2010 book I am working on in between flipping. Well I went back and got involved and Ben goes to me "We're Burning! We're Burning!" I had lost track of my pancakes! They weren't burning but were darker than usual LOL. So maybe there should be a side label saying "Warning! Very Addictive! Do not use while Cooking!" LOL!"

A couple of years ago I first saw one of Julie's beautiful creations while visiting family in Canada. While I thought it was wonderful I wasn't ready to deviate from conventional scrap booking. Not long after returning I was blessed with an 8x8 book Julie made to commemorate our trip. It was a beautiful and thoughtful gift, and my kids still have fun looking at it. While I continued to work on my scrapbooks I knew that I would be using Heritage Makers in the future. I created my first project, the one I am most proud of, a few months ago. I decided to make a book for my mother in law Diane. She had been battling cancer for several years and I wanted her to have something to pick her up and remind her of how much she was loved and how deeply she had touched our lives. I contacted friends and family and asked them to send their photos and memories. It was so easy to upload my photos and create something wonderful. There were so many templates to choose from. I didn't keep the layout but having the backgrounds there really saved time, sometimes just picking the papers takes longer than anything. I was able to find lots of embellishments and utilized the fantastic collections to create the layers I love so much from traditional scrap booking. There is also a large selection of quotes, broken down by category, that I utilized through out the book. It was so easy and fun to use, there were some things that I wanted to do but wasn't sure how to do, but Julie was right there to walk me thru it even though she is thousands of miles away (she is in Canada and I am in Minnesota). She was able log on the PC and see what I was doing and walk me thru how do everything I needed to do :) It was also easy to change the lay out, add, and take away items until I was satisfied. My most favorite part was how easy it was to change the photos. I could zoom, crop, and change the size as much as I wanted. No more being tied to original photo, and the program is smart enough to let you know if you have enhanced it too much. The money and hassle saved with the photos was AWESOME!!!!  In the end the book turned out perfect. The book was intended to be my gift to my MIL at her surprise party in September. however, at the end of August she got really ill from the chemo therapy and a couple of week later learned that she would never have another treatment. I had just finished the book and sent it for publication. The surprise party was called off but she still got her book when a few close family members celebrated the occasion. She was surprised and delighted. It was the best gift I could have given. Six weeks later Diane lost her battle with cancer. The book served its purpose and so much more. My father in law as well as many other family members have enjoyed the memory book, and found comfort in the memories it contained. So much so that I'm currently revising to book to add a few more things. This will be my father in laws gift to Diane's children and closest family  members as a tribute to the woman who had left her mark on us all. While her life was cut short by cancer this book will allow us to carry on her legacy and bring us comfort when we miss her most. I am so grateful that I was introduced to Heritage Makers, as I could have never done this as fast or as well as I did the old fashion way. I have created a couple of other items, and look forward to my next project. Thanks Julie for starting me on this wonderful journey, I can't wait to see what I do next!
